This is a call for applications for 6 participants (residents and citizens) from Austria between 17 and 25 years old for a fully-funded Youth Exchange in Guimarães, Portugal from 11.07 (arrival day) to 18.07. 2022 (departure day).
A Youth Exchange is a meeting of groups of young people from different countries who gather for a short period to participate in a non-formal learning programme (a mix of workshops, exercises, debates, role-plays, simulations, outdoor activities, etc.). With the support of experienced youth workers, participants in a youth exchange can develop competences, become aware of socially relevant topics, discover new cultures, and strengthen values like solidarity, democracy, etc.
SUMMARY:
This call is particularly for the youth exchange "EmpowerMe: Media and Digital Literacy for Inclusion and Diversity" that will be implemented in Guimarães, Portugal from Monday 11.07 (travel day) to Monday 18.07 2022 (return day). This youth exchange brings together 45 youths from Austria, France, Hungary, Italy, Portugal, Romania and Spain. The main aim is to reflect on the issue of disinformation and discrimination in the media and social networks, and to understand how these platforms influence intolerant and stereotyped behaviors in society and how we can transform this.
OBJECTIVES:
Educate young people in the field of media and digital literacy, in favor of democratic and civic participation informed and active, so that they become active and vigilant agents of social inclusion and diversity;
Foster learning and skills development through non-formal and informal dynamics and through the promotion of intercultural and diverse dialogue;
Reinforce common European values and eliminate conscious prejudice, stereotypes, discrimination and bullying.
PRACTICALITIES:
If you are between 17 and 25 years old and live in Austria and would like to participate in this youth exchange, please send an email with a brief introduction about you and your motivation for participation in this youth exchange to emotic.org@gmail.com AS SOON AS POSSIBLE;
Once accepted, you should fill in the application form and sign the participation agreement;
Then you should buy your travel ticket in consultation with EMOTiC;
When it is time for the activity, you will travel together with the rest of the group from Austria;
The food and accommodation are fully covered. You will be staying in a shared room in the university campus of Minho University Azurém. And the food will include all options.
After your return, you will be refunded the cost of the travel ticket.
